Last year, Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao joined hands with the Maharashtra Government for its flagship scheme, Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan. The project aims at making villages in the state drought-free in five years by conserving water. Aamir also launched Satyamev Jayate Water Cup in 2016, a competition between villages to conserve water.
Ahead of the second edition of the competition, Aamir and his wife did a music video with help from the 'Sairat' team for the promotion of the event.
The lead actors of the superhit Marathi film, Akash Thosar and Rinku Rajguru - feature in the music video directed by 'Sairat' director Nagraj Manjule.
The music is composed by music composer duo Ajay-Atul and the lyrics are penned down by Guru Thakur with Kiran Rao lending her voice to it.
Aamir Khan today at the launch of the music video looked quite thrilled as he lauded the efforts of Chief Minister, Devendra Phadnavis towards making Maharashtra drought free.
Talking at the event the 'Dangal' actor said,"For a long time now, Satyamev Jayate's team wanted to do something about the issues related to water. When I narrated the idea to our Respected Chief Minister I got to know about a flagship program, Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan which is already in place.
He is really passionate about these issues and wanted to make it a people's movement and that is what we are trying to do. To be honest, I am really nervous about the event but also confident in our efforts".
The competition will take place from April 8 to May 22. Top three villages across the state will get a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh, Rs 30 lakh and Rs 20 lakh respectively. In addition, the top village from each taluka will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh.
