The producers have decided to postpone the release date for the films scheduled to release for Christmas Holidays. Such a situation has arisen out of the dispute between theatres, producers and distributors on the issue of shares given to producers by theatres.
The convention for quite some time is that to give 60% as profit share to producers by theatres screening films. Now the theatres have decided to cut short it by 50%. In the wake of such a situation a meeting happened at Kochi to discuss this, but it didn’t result in any amicable situation and thereby resulting in the decision of producers to postpone the releasing date.
So many films of popular stars and directors were ready for release and even had declared the release dates but there is an impasse now regarding it. Sathyan Anthikad’s ‘Jomonte Suviseshangal’ with Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, director Siddique’s ‘Fukri’ with Jayasurya in the lead, Jibu Jacob’s ‘Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol’ with Mohanlal in the lead are some of the films scheduled for Christmas release.
